Skoda’s upcoming compact electric SUV could be a serious contender – here’s what we know so far.
Skoda’s got something electric up their sleeve, and we’re getting our first glimpse on March 15th at their Annual Press Conference. While there’s no official name yet, all signs point to this being the highly anticipated Skoda Elroq, their new compact electric SUV set to hit roads in 2024.
In a short teaser video, Skoda has given us a peek at this mystery model. The front end is distinctly SUV-shaped, and the LED lights along with that illuminated Skoda emblem are sharp – I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes their signature look for electric cars.
What We Know About the Elroq
Based on Skoda’s announcements last year, the Elroq is positioned as their electric alternative to the popular Karoq. Think family-friendly, spacious interiors, and a manageable size (about 4.5 meters long).
The Elroq won’t be alone in this market. It’ll face off against the likes of the Peugeot E-3008 and the upcoming electric versions of the Citroen C5 Aircross and Vauxhall Grandland.
Skoda’s Electric Ambitions
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Skoda’s got big plans for their EV lineup. They’re working on a smaller, more affordable SUV to rival the VW ID.2 (expect that in 2025) and even a seven-seater behemoth for those needing Kodiaq-level space, rumoured for 2026.
How to Watch the Reveal
Mark your calendars! Skoda’s Annual Press Conference goes live on March 15th. Besides the design reveal, Skoda promises updates on their financial performance and an overview of what else they’re cooking up. I’ll definitely be tuning in!
